Hill walking

We have been walking in the Blackstairs for more than ten years and when the opportunity arose to relocate it was our first choice. We all think our county is beautiful but this area in Co. Carlow is truly lovely - definitely the Hidden Ireland. It affords walking at all levels,from the Sli Slainte which goes by the door to the Mt.Leinster/Blackstairs Mt. Challenge which is also viewed from the cottage. We are experienced and dedicated hill walker and can plan routes in the area and guide if required, just ask!

Within a short drive there are many other walks and activities.

- The South Leinster Way, which can be picked up at Borris a picturesque town ten minutes drive away.
- The Barrow Way, which can also be followed from the same town.

Dining need not be limited to the self-catering cottage. There are some wonderful restaurants close by. The Step House Hotel, The Lord Bagenal and Kilgraney House are to name but a few. Kilkenny, Graiguenamanagh, Enniscorthy and New Ross are all within a half hour from our village of Ballymurphy and all offer so much for the visitor.
